110 stand up paddle boards for cleaner water

100 boards for clean water

We did it! On the first all-Slovenian stand-up paddle gathering there were over 110 Paddlers. The Bananaway team thanks everybody who came from the bottom of the heart.

Tuesday, August 29, 2017, was a day that we will remember for a long time. On a beautiful sunny day, we gathered together supers from all over Slovenia on the bank of the river Ljubljanica. Why? Because we care for our rivers!

During paddling, we focused our attention on garbage in the river and encouraged every participant to pick them up as much as possible. So, we encouraged all paddlers across Slovenia to join us and make something good for nature during the recreation.
During the event, we also distributed degradable garbage bags

AT THE EVENT, THERE WAS A SUP MADE OF 160 PLASTIC BOTTLES

A special SUP composed of more than 160 1.5-liter bottles was also exhibited at the event. The SUP has a special story: In July, Carolyn Newton from England and Brazilian Carlos de Sousa with Bananaway overcame the marathon distance from Radelje to Bresternica with Bananaway instructor Suzi Simenčič on that special SUP. Why? Our visitors have a special goal. Within the project Plastic bottle SUP marathon they want to paddle 12 marathons in 12 European countries.

In doing so, they want to draw attention to the problem of plastic waste that pollutes the oceans, rivers and nature.

The energy was really incredible and we are excited about such a large number of attendees. With this we have shown that the Slovenian people do care a lot about the rivers and that we can step together.
